Peter

Second Copy ran continuously on our server from 2006 to 2017 - ELEVEN YEARS. It hardly affected server performance - so we easily ran backups every few hours. You can never lose more than a few hours of work (until a consultant disabled in a few months ago without telling me). Second Copy has saved us countless times when a user accidentally overwrote a file or a file got corrupted before the daily server incremental backup occurred.

Of course you get backup reliability by using cloud-based software - but as far as I know, you can't ask the Office 365 team to deliver you a backup from 8 versions back. Or let you browse versions 6,7,8,9 to be certain that the material you lost was in the 8th oldest version, not the 7th oldest version.

The unfortunate part of Second Copy is that Microsoft hasn't given the company wheelbarrow loads of money to integrate it into Windows.

Lots to tell about SC and it's potential. I love it! Setup SC9 on Windows Svr 2016 and working beautifully as expected. Of course time will tell, but from the first backup, there were no hick-ups with 170gb. So please put that in your resume for SecondCopy9. I've been using since SC7 on multiple windows platforms, but will always use simple, solid programs over more robust do-everything applications that cost way more and are cryptic in setup. The recovery of data is so simple as well. IMHO this has the best in backup features that I can rely on. Job very well done!

Hello, I have been using Second Copy since year 2000 and it has been the most useful piece of software I've had.
Since I only recently upgraded the PC from WinXP to Win7, my PC and Second Copy don't seem to like each other very well, and it may be time to upgrade to a later version of SC.
I currently have SC V6.2.
I'm wondering how much the upgrade cost will be, and if the current version of SC will run well on Win7.
thanks for years of good service.

As a long term and very satisfied user of Second Copy, I make the following suggestions for minor improvements to what is an excellent product.
1. When doing initial backups involving a multitude of files, the log file takes far too long to refresh. There is no cancel option, once you've selected refresh. The only thing you can do is to force quit using Task Manager, then delete the log file directly in the System folder User/AppData/Local/Centered Systems/Second Copy/log.rtf. Then recommence the backup.
Is there something I'm missing?
2. Given that many users backup to removable discs, which invariably have a name different from the Drive letter allocated by Windows, the option "AlwaysShowVolumeNames=1" should be included as a default option. Finding out about this hidden feature is difficult and it would be much easier if it appeared in the default profile creation panels, so that users would be aware that that option exists if needed.

Richard Millington

Second Copy still does not check the destination drive available or not... scans the source files then tries to find destination... also SC can not run multithreaded... It is a must for SC... This software must scan the source and destination same time... if not lack of time... :!thinking:

We are in the business of IT support and at one of our smaller sites we have been using Second Copy v7 since January 2009. We do not use it at many sites, but it has certainly been a 'fire and forget' solution at this one.

We had a hard disk failure at this site a few days ago (January 2018!) and so we can say it has been running without any oversight on our part for over nine years. We are upgrading to v9 and it will be money well spent.

Hi, I have had this product for a while now and love it.

I just rebuilt my computer system and forgot to copy over the serial number.

How do I retrieve it please?

Regards

This one of the most valuable applications I own. I have been relying on Second Copy forever. Thanks for the refinements over the years. And thanks for not being tempted to add a never ending list of new, confusing and worthless features. I do hope you have been justly rewarded for your efforts.

Thanks,
Rick
